Hi mommies, My 3 month old was diagnosed with Acid Reflux. Her Dr. gave me the option to put her on medication (not an antacid but one that actually stops the reflux from happening) but said she didn't like to put babies so young on meds. I definitely don't want to do that but tonight she was screaming in pain for an hour, and I don't know if I can handle it again. I've tried feeding her in a upright position, and doing smaller, frequent feedings; which seem to help but apparently not tonight. I'm getting some fennel tea tomorrow to try. I was wondering if anyone had a baby w/ reflux and what they did. Any advise is appreciated. Thank you!

here are some advise from some other moms on the other site i was on
by nicole617 on Jun. 14, 2008 at 10:45 PM I had Aaron on the baby gas drops, they aren't really a medication at least I don't think they are because they are in the baby section not with other medications. It worked really well for him. Although I only breastfed him for about a month and then he formula fed on a special formula that was partially digested first but I don't remember the name of it. She has used the gas drops... (mylicon??) has anyone tried fennal tea for their babies?? has anyone had a baby w/ the acid reflux?? Edit Reply Quote Reply Delete Reply by NuMommie06 on Jun. 15, 2008 at 6:04 PM My Daughter had GERD very badly and we were also offered medicine, but it had not been tested on infants yet and they could not tell me the long term effects. I explored many options and finally breastfed her small frequent feedings, and kept her upright for 30-45 minutes after each feeding. Her GERD gave her sleep apnea so we had to rig her bed to a 45 degree angle because I couldn't afford the wedge. She usually slept with me and was pretty good by 6 months and never needed me to do more Quote Reply by hayhay61606 on Jun. 16, 2008 at 12:25 AM my daughter had it really bad all the way up until she was 15 months old. I the absolute best thing that worked for her was prevacid I know you don't want to put your baby on meds but think about it would you rather the baby be in pain like that all the time? Nothing is really goin to stop the spitting up but the prevacid helps with the pain.

That is horrible I would hate to have to hear my baby cry for that long, I have heard that if you are breastfeeding that if you change your diet around it might help the baby. If that is to hard you should try a little formula and see if she is still as fussy with that, I hate to say it but it is so trial and error in the begining you just have to find out what works. Good luck and let us all know if you find something that works

No one ever said it would be easy, only that it would be worth it!
