That is absurd, I had a c section and it was not because I wanted it! it was because I was in labor for 18 hours and the babies heart rate was dropping. The babies safty should be the most important not the doctors paycheck or what is more convenient for anyone. If it is becoming a problem then they should look at the doctors and do not punish the patients that are unable to do it any other way.

No one ever said it would be easy, only that it would be worth it!

I would really recommend the movie The Business of Being Born. Although there were a few parts I didn't agree with, I thought the movie was fantastic. As I get older it seems that I am becoming more of a cynical. I tend to usually believe that most doctors and hospitals are in it for the $ , not the best interest of mother and child. It is scary to think that there is really no one out there that actually cares for our health. This is very apparent when you visit the ER or try and get a question answered about your baby at midnight on a Saturday night. I feel very blessed to love my doctors but heaven help us if we have to go the ER or trust someone we don't have a personal relationship with. Sorry to rant but I am so passionate about us all helping each other. It makes me so angry that in this wonderful country we live in there are so many pregnant women and small children that don't have health care and if they ask for help no one will help them because they have the "wrong coverage." Do you realize how many children have died because hospitals have turned them away due to the fact the hospital isn't on their "plan." These children would have survived but because of their insurance plan they didn't get a chance at life. I thank God everyday that I am so blessed. However, we all need to reach out and help those who are less fortunate because as mothers we are all in the same inside.

Wow I think that is totally unfair. What is this world coming to when a woman has to add this to her list of worries when having a baby :-(

My wife is going to have to have a c-section due to medical reasons. We will actually be lucky if Baby goes full term. Her doctor doesn't think she will and is going to put her on steriods at week 24 to help strengthen Baby's lungs. I think the insurance companies are just money grabbing punks. It is out ragous to think that someone could even THINK about chargin because it is an issue.

I am so sorry about the circumstances involving your wife and unborn twins. I had to have an involuntary C-Section with my fifth son but it was because after my water broke the day before and labor induced with Pitocin I still had not dilated past 1 CM. His heart rate was dropping so I elected to have the C-Section but was not happy about it. I had no problems from my insurance(Pacificare-HMO) they covered everything. I was very happy with the care I received and the doctors involved because of course my doctor was not on call that night! Good luck to you.
