My son is almost 13 months. I didn't want to go cold turkey and just give him sippy cups at 1 year--when is the right time to wean your baby off bottles and just use sippy cups for milk? As of right now, he gets a bottle in the morning and one after dinner at night. Thanks everyone!

I have a 15 month old and still give her a bottle in the morning and before bed. I'll be honest and say I haven't tried to wean her off yet! I will at sixteen months!! Have you tried to put his milk in the sippy cup when he wakes up in the morning? I've heard you should phase out the bottle by eighteen months. Let me know girlfriend!!!

my little girl is 14 months and we are in the process of getting rid of the bottle, she is able to drink out of a sippy and a straw just fine she just finds comfort in her bottle. I have tried putting milk in her sippy and she will not drink it but if there is water of juice she love to drink out of it. So everyday we keep trying to get her to drink the milk from the sippy, from all of the other mothers that I have talked to it seemed that cold turkey was the best way to go and it was harder for the parents to deal with then the kids. good luck let me know if you find the secret

I know this post is a few months old--have you had any luck with the weaning? I had to just do it cold turkey at about 14 months. She wasn't super attached to the bottle because we breastfed for 11 months, but even so it was still very difficult. It is very tempting to cave and just give them the bottle--she would cry and find a bottle in her room or in a cupboard, bring it to me and say "pease..baba...pease" It breaks your heart--but if you give in, they know you will always give in. So once you make the decision, throw away all the bottles and know that it might (or hide them) be very tough for a few days.

so we have done away with the bottle during the day and she only has one bottle right before she goes to bed. She sill will not drink milk during the day out of a sippy, straw, glass or anything i have tried. Any suggestions? or do you think that her bottle at night which is 8 oz is enough? She also eats cheese and yogurt. let me know your thoughts
